At America World, we believe that every child deserves to be seen, valued, and loved. While adoption is a beautiful and life-changing way to provide a permanent family, it is not the only way to care for children in need. Countless children around the world are waiting, some for families and others for stability, and all are deserving of compassionate, consistent care.
Our commitment to caring for children is rooted in meeting the whole child’s needs physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We believe that every child should have access to proper nutrition, safe shelter, education, and medical care. Just as importantly, they need encouragement, meaningful relationships, and the opportunity to experience love, dignity, and hope.

Strengthening Families, Preventing Separation
One of the most meaningful ways to care for children is to support families before separation ever becomes necessary. In Ethiopia, many parents face heartbreaking circumstances such as political unrest, disease, and extreme poverty that make it difficult, or even impossible, to provide for their children. Our Ethiopia Family Empowerment Program gives these families a means to stay together.

Transforming Vulnerable Teenagers into Thriving Adults
Ethiopia closed its doors to international adoption in January 2018, yet many children still grow up in orphanages. At 18, they must enter the world with no family, support, or clear path forward, leaving young women especially vulnerable to poverty and danger. Our two Bete Hosanna homes provide a two-year program that equips them with the stability, skills, and confidence to not just survive but thrive.

Meeting Critical Needs Amid Unrest
America World's long-term presence and care for children in Haiti began with facilitating adoptions, hosting mission teams, and continues with ongoing support for various humanitarian aid efforts. Our in-country representative ensures that consistent nutrition, safety, and care are provided for the children's home we help support. These boys and girls can grow, learn, and simply be children despite the challenges around them. While the needs can feel overwhelming, we refuse to forget these children.
