Brian Andrew Luwis

Co-Founder and CEO

Brian Andrew Luwis has lived in the Washington Metropolitan area for more than 40 years and has been actively involved in adoption since 1993, both as an adoptive parent and as an advocate for orphans.

After attending St. Albans School, Brian graduated with honors from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., in 1988 with a Bachelor of Architecture. In 1994, he and his wife, Renee, founded America World Adoption to assist children in need of families, including those with backgrounds like their first daughter, Fei, and to share the blessing of adoption with Christian families.

In addition to his leadership at America World, Brian works in his family’s building development and management company. He serves America World Adoption as a volunteer and does not receive a salary. Like the Apostle Paul, who made tents, Brian values the ability to earn his income separately from his primary ministry work. His father, a first-generation American born to a poor immigrant family from Yugoslavia, became a successful developer in the Washington, D.C., area. His father’s strong work ethic and commitment to hard work helped shape Brian’s ability to volunteer his time and leadership to America World.

In 2006, Brian returned to school and by late 2007 earned a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management. During his studies, he applied nearly every project and assignment to America World Adoption and issues related to orphan care, gaining valuable insight into the organizational and operational aspects of leading a nonprofit ministry.

Brian and Renee are the parents of five children, four through adoption and one by birth. Through their family’s journey, they have experienced firsthand the blessing of God’s spirit of adoption. They are passionate about sharing that blessing with other families and are grateful for the opportunity to see God at work through America World as families are formed through the gift of adoption.
