Leah Rockey, B.S.W
Ecuador Program Director
India Senior Family Coordinator
Leah serves as the Ecuador Program Director and works with our India and Social Services Teams, a role that allows her to be deeply involved in many aspects of what we do here at America World. She is passionate about educating families on adoption and walking alongside them on their adoption journey. She understands both professionally and personally, as an adoptive parent, what it looks like to bring a child home through international adoption and walk through both the joy-filled and difficult moments that adoption can bring. After working in the education field for several years, she was greatly impacted by her time spent in India and felt a desire to serve orphans more directly, and joined America World in 2005. Leah has over 20 years of adoption experience which currently involves developing program structures, partnering with our in-country staff in Ecuador to organize the adoption process, assisting our China Director and families, walking families in Ecuador and India through all stages of their adoption paperwork, writing home study and post adoption reports, creating training materials, advocating for children who are waiting for their forever family and matching families with their precious children. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve families and children alongside the wonderful staff at America World.
Leah holds a bachelor’s degree from Liberty University with a concentration in Social Work and Counseling. She has both lived overseas and served short-term in different capacities, including work in India, China, Africa, Mexico, Guatemala, and throughout South America, where she has served orphans and high-risk children. These experiences with children abroad deepened her passion for orphans around the world and eventually led her and her husband to China to adopt their two children. When Leah is not working, she enjoys going on adventures with her husband and children, dabbling in photography, trying something new, drinking a good cup of tea, and participating in her church community.
